Rules

  1. Enter a five-letter word from the accepted dictionary.
  2. Use green, yellow, and gray feedback to refine the next guess.
  3. Find the exact answer within six valid guesses.

Win condition

A submitted guess exactly matches the answer. The game is lost only after the sixth valid guess misses.

Feedback

GreenCorrect letter in the correct position.
YellowLetter exists in an unused position.
GrayNo unmatched copy of that letter remains.
Invalid wordRejected without using an attempt.

Repeated letters

Daily Word scores exact-position matches first. It then counts the unmatched letters left in the answer and awards yellow tiles only while copies remain. This prevents a guess containing two Es from receiving two yellow tiles when the answer contains only one available E.

Daily Word FAQ

How do you play Daily Word?

Guess the five-letter answer in no more than six valid attempts. Green means the letter and position are correct, yellow means the letter is elsewhere, and gray means no unused copy remains.

How are repeated letters scored?

Exact matches are scored first. Yellow feedback is then limited to the number of unmatched copies remaining in the answer.

Do invalid words use an attempt?

No. An incomplete entry or a word outside the accepted dictionary is rejected without consuming one of the six attempts.
